Maria Pesli

Maria Pesli is a new media artist, a cultural manager and a filmmaker focusing on
participatory video with a strong interest on community art projects using photography, video, sound and performing arts techniques. She has worked extensively with various migrant communities in Greece and recently with groups of refugees while she has been involved in art and research projects exploring the potential of participatory arts for recording life narratives, oral history and urban mutliculturalism using a participant’s observation approach. For her personal creative work, she experiments with photography and video installations focusing more on themes of identity, memory, oblivion and transformation. She has showed parts of her work to different venues and events like art houses, galleries, festivals and universities in Greece, UK, Switzerland, France, Egypt, USA and China.
