A fistful of Freedom

Abdullah, a 28-year old refugee from Kabul, Afghanistan, is located in Mytilene from December 2016. He is just one of the 4,345 “heroes” of the Moria concentration camp in Lesvos and a professional journalist. He was forced away from his own country, his wife and his newborn baby, for he was defending women rights in education back home; as a result, he was exiled and ended up in the island, as his life was in peril by the Taliban.
Even here, he still continues his work, by helping women subjected to verbal and physical violence inside the grounds of Kara Tepe and Moria, teaching children aged 7-16 Farsi and Pashtun and assisting other refugees in carrying off their paperwork for asylum applications.
